Blodget Peak Hike

We just returned form a vacation to North Carolina which was great but had some trying moments.  Our little girl got an ear infection and was not a great sleeper in bed with us so my morning started before 4 am most of the time.  We did have a great time and were able to spend some time with loved ones.  I had an extra day when we got back so I work up early and tackled a difficult hike I've been thinking about for quite a while.  I struggled a lot but it helped tie the trip and the last couple months together.  The long struggle and long game are worth it.  I find myself seeking the quick dopamine hits with my phone, food, and all kinds of other things in life.  The 5 hr hike was not quick or easy success.

Anaerobic Digester Dome Removal

Biological treatment of wastewater is an amazing thing.  One small portion in some facilities is taking solids, digesting them, capturing the gas they produce and then dewatering those solids.  That gas can be corrosive and eat away metal so the domes need to be replaced.  This was the removal of an old digester lid.  The weight of this guy was around 40,000 lbs and is 100' dia.

A very full weekend

Friday was the culmination of recital week with Barbara Ellis Studio of Dance, followed by a trip to the AFA fire department to watch a helicopter take off and a car be lit on fire.  Then off to a friends birthday party.  It was quite full!

Palmer Lake to Woodmen Road

We rode from Palmer Lake to Woodmen Road.  An estimated 19 miles!  All on the Santa Fe Trail although it is called something else now.  So proud of my family.

Wastewater Compost - Gunnison Colorado

There are only a handful of municipal wastewater plants that compost their solids in the State of Colorado and I was lucky enough to tour one this last week.  A couple of aerial photos from that tour.

Construction Time lapse - GoPro mods

I needed a time lapse to last 6 hours while I went to a different site but the rain was coming.  Some painters plastic and tape did the trick to water proof the open camera and charging battery pack.  The resulting time lapse is below.

Half Moon Bay - a shirt to remind me

One of my favorite shirts lately because it reminds me of the amazing trip last year and wonderful people whom I love and love me out in HMB!

We have a new baby!

Our littlest one was born a couple weeks ago.  Mom and baby are doing very well.

My great friend Amanda Lamb came over and did a lifestyle baby session with us and we are in love with these photos.

Thank you Amanda

Reboot! - Chris Stefanick

Last night was somewhat of a date night or as much of one as you might expect with a 16 day old baby!

His talk was about experiencing the love story God has given to us and how to start living it!  He had a great talk to a sold out crowd.

Time Lapse

The beginning of the year has been quite full including both of my major projects at work ramping up to the finish line.  While onsite I took the liberty to make a couple videos.

First is the disassembly of an Aerzen blower which is being used to provide all the air for the wastewater plant.

Next is the transfer downstairs and assembly in the blower room.

Lastly in the last couple weeks the brain of the plant (Programmable Logic Control - PLC) was switched out which meant all of the processes in the plant had to be run in manual mode.

Our only sledding trip of 2018?

Colorado Springs has been very light on snow this year so when it came we took advantage and went sledding.  Both boys thought it was great to knock over the camera.

2017 was full of wastewater

This was a fun video to put together which summarized the construction of the Woodland Park Wastewater Facility.  I didn't do any of the construction but was present for most of it throughout the year.  2018 will bring the project to a close so look for the complete project summary later in 2018.

Mixing phone camera, aerial and music

Earlier this month I was so sick I spent 3 days in bed.  While I couldn't do much work I did watch a bunch of Youtube about video editing and how to best add music to movies.  I am hoping to start telling more of a story with my videos and this was my second attempt.

Married at St. Patrick and party at Phantom Canyon

This post is a change in the usual I have been posting of aerial work and wastewater!  In the time I have worked with Amanda Lamb Photography there have been a couple families that I get to see time and time again.  This wedding was with one amazing couple, married at my home parish and with one of my favorite deacons.

As usual thank you to Amanda Lamb Photography for having me along.
