His First Real Whole Apple

While we were getting dinner ready tonight our little man wanted to play with an apple.  What is the harm right?  As it turns out he has got some serious choppers.

Experimenting with high ISO

Bible high ISO-1

Tonight I thought I would see how sharp my camera would be at 6400 ISO.  The 7D made me proud and this little experiment helped me understand a bit about my cameras capabilities.

Merry Christmas

Heather Prego Luke-1

Christmas Eve Day was packed with family!  Christmas was just Heather, Eli, Lucas, me and Jesus.  It was a wonderful weekend.

10 years is more than 3

Ten years ago this December JDS-Hydro Consultants opened its doors.  Word around the office was that 3 years was the magic number.  Well here they are at 10.  JDS MnM-2

Earrings, bracelets and necklaces, oh my!

Tonight I set out to complete a little experiment.  Could I complete the conception, setup and processing of some photographs in one night.  I wanted to convey crisp photographs with a clear subject.  A white background and one or two objects did the trick.  The jewelry below is a mix from my wife’s collection.  Some she bought and others she made.

This was the setup I used to capture all of the pictures above.  Moving the light to bounce off one side or another makes some subtle changes in the catch lights and the shadows. I used a 28-135mm “macro” lens on the Canon 7D and played around with the angles while taking the pictures.  The pictures turned out better than I thought with the little planning and time that I had to complete the project.

Wedding Sampler Pack

Eventually my goal is to be a full time wedding photographer.  I would be na├»ve to think that anyone can pick up a camera and shoot a wedding with poise and ability.  Getting to where I am now has certainly been a journey but this is not where it ends.  I would like to share a few of the original images from two weddings I was fortunate enough to be a part.  Enjoy.

A day in black and white

I recently went out shooting with a good buddy.  We met at his house and just went for a walk.  The day took us around the neighborhood.  We tried to find the interesting in the everyday.

Our weekend

We have been a very busy little family this last week and weekend.  H has been putting up the decorations.  E was thrilled when we led him into the room where there was no lights on but the tree.

We also went to have some hot chocolate one evening and took some pictures of E by the tree.

Lastly, it was very cold this weekend.  The Springs even has a water main burst the soaked the skate park.  This was our back yard that morning.

I took this picture tonight because I really enjoy these pictures I have seen on other photographers blogs.  Plus it helped score some points with my wife!
