Tonight I thought I would see how sharp my camera would be at 6400 ISO. The 7D made me proud and this little experiment helped me understand a bit about my cameras capabilities.

Tonight I set out to complete a little experiment. Could I complete the conception, setup and processing of some photographs in one night. I wanted to convey crisp photographs with a clear subject. A white background and one or two objects did the trick. The jewelry below is a mix from my wife’s collection. Some she bought and others she made.
This was the setup I used to capture all of the pictures above. Moving the light to bounce off one side or another makes some subtle changes in the catch lights and the shadows. I used a 28-135mm “macro” lens on the Canon 7D and played around with the angles while taking the pictures. The pictures turned out better than I thought with the little planning and time that I had to complete the project.

I recently went out shooting with a good buddy. We met at his house and just went for a walk. The day took us around the neighborhood. We tried to find the interesting in the everyday.
Thanks J for hanging out. It is always fun to shoot with someone else.

We have been a very busy little family this last week and weekend. H has been putting up the decorations. E was thrilled when we led him into the room where there was no lights on but the tree.
We also went to have some hot chocolate one evening and took some pictures of E by the tree.
Lastly, it was very cold this weekend. The Springs even has a water main burst the soaked the skate park. This was our back yard that morning.

I recently had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with two of the sweetest sisters. It is hard to be a grump around these two. Everything was an adventure.
Their mom had some great outfits for the girls including the little details.
When I’m photographing kids I try everything to get authentic smiles. I told them to act surprised. Sadly I don’t think they know the home alone face…
A quick outfit change and we were off and running again. This time we had two cowgirls.
Who can resist playing in the leaves? Not these two. When I told them what we were going to do I barley had time to get back to my camera before the leaves were flying.
We ended with a quick trip to the playground. You would have thought we gave them a million bucks.
Thank you guys so much. It was a blast and these pictures bring a smile to my face every time I see them.
